Overview
Critical values are figures which are far from the reference range and are indicative of a potentially dangerous patient’s condition requiring immediate attention by the clinician.
It is the responsibility of the laboratory to notify the physician or the ordering location of any critical laboratory result as soon as possible to ensure that the results are properly and timely
addressed by the clinicians.
